Ways to ride the backcountry
- 01
Freeride on Popova Shapka
Open off-piste slopes next to the resort, about an hour from Skopje, with runs from about 1,670 to 2,380 m and deep snow.
- 02
Snowcat freeride
Ride up above Popova Shapka by snowcat and ski long, untracked lines back down.
- 03
Ski tours to the big summits
Climb on skins to Titov Vrv (2,748 m) or Golem Korab (2,764 m) for the biggest descents in the country.
Safety first
Off-piste skiing always carries avalanche risk. Your guide checks the snow every day, chooses the slopes, keeps the group small and turns back when it is not safe. Everyone carries a transceiver, shovel and probe, and we show you how to use them.
